Alum Creek Mountain Bike Trail – Phase II

Posted by JacQ

On the way to Columbus, Ohio from Moab Utah, I found out that there is a Phase II Bike Trail in Alum Creek State Park. The photos on SingleTracks shows lots of bridges and stunt obstacles. So we were excited to try out our new biked there. More about our adventure of the new bikes later.

Boy, it is lots of fun! Thanks to Central Ohio Mountain Biking Organization (COMBO) who built this 6-mile of fast, fun trail loaded with bridges and obstacles for you to test out balancing skills. It is advised not to ride Phase I and Phase II when the weather calls for rain. Wait at least two to three days for the mud to dry up before you ride or you can ruin the trail and it would be a pain to ride anyways.

The trail head is right across the street from the parking lot. A little short climb to get up and you want to turn right onto the trail. There is a pretty good obstacles built on the right shortly after you get on the trail. I have not tried it~ A little too advance for me. But I think Jeremy tried it. Need to get some video of that next time. :D

Another cool obstacle there was the see-saw. It was kind of sary for me to get on the first time, but after a couple of tries, it was quite fun! Here’s a photo of it and a short video of me trying it the second time.

There are so many cool bridges, but I was so focused on riding the trail and I forgot to take more photos. But I did take a video of Jeremy crossing the long bridge there. I rode this bridge twice now. It is quite scary the first time because of the height. But now I am getting used to it. Check it out.

Here’s the map to the parking lot for this trail. Do stop by and give it a run when you are in this area. It is fast, fun and gives any good mountain biker a good quick ride in a really beautiful park.
