Granite Basin Loops – #351 + #349 – Prescott, AZ

Posted by JacQ

Today we decided to ride in Granite Basin Lake Recreation Area as an intro to mountain bike for Liesl and a third mountain biking experience for Tessa.

We took Loop#351 from the Metate Trailhead and then hop onto #349 to make it a clockwise loop. It was an easy warmup and then quite a bit of fun up and down smooth ride on #349.

It was a great time and Liesl did well on her first mountain bike ride. Tessa is really getting it down~

Good job girls.

Homestead Trail #305 – Lynx Lake: Prescott, AZ

Posted by JacQ

We had an opportunity to come up to Prescott and check out a couple of bike trails. This is the first choice based on a couple of reviews on SingleTracks.com

We took abegold’s advise and rode Walker Road to Bannie Mine road for a good 5-mile warm up ride to get on Trail #305 to start our decent.

It was a blast. Fast, smooth and fun. A few little tight turns and climbs on the way down, but nothing too much to take out the downhill fun~

Pay $2 parking fee at the Ranch Trail #62 parking area and trailhead off of Walker Road. It’s small amount to pay and it adds up for the park to keep it clean and the trail maintained. The $2 is also good for the whole day at ALL the parks in the Prescott National Forest if you want to venture out to other parks.

Going up Walker Road from the Trail #62 parking area and jump on Trail #305 from Bannie Mine Road to decent makes this a 11.5 – 12 mile ride.
