Day 3 of RV Full Timing

Posted by JacQ

Well, here’s the overall update of our first couple days of full timing. A lot has happened in the last 60 hours.

First day of full time RVing... truck broke downWe left San Antonio for Dallas on Wednesday around noon. Decided to take 281 North instead of I-35 for the scenic route. Jeremy drove all the way. Around 5PM we were about 5 miles north of a little town called Stephenville. The truck made some noise and just stopped working… it just died on us~ Jeremy tried his best to steer our rig to the side of the road with the little bit of momentum left.

Well, our AAA Texas – Plus RV membership actually came in handy for this. Called their toll free number for Roadside Assistance… the lady did not seem to understand what a Fifth Wheel was~ but the Tow Truck company came about 90 minutes later and was able to tow our truck with the Fifth Wheel on the back to the closest GM dealer/service center – Bruner Motors, Inc. We will tell you more about what we did while waiting later~

We boondocked at the employee parking lot of the Bruner Motors GM service center and was able to get in first thing in the morning for them to take a look at the truck. The service was very good! The staff was friendly and helpful. Read the rest of this entry »

Registering Fifth Wheel Trailer that was bought outside of Texas

Posted by JacQ

If you bought a Fifth Wheel RV out of Texas like us, and you are a Texas residence, this article is for you. We bought ours back in December in Ohio from Jeremy’s dad’s good friend.

We had to get it back to Texas to get it titled and registered. But, everyone we talked to gave us different answers regarding the things we need to get the job done. One of them was that we needed to take photos of both inside and outside of the Fifth Wheel, which was not true! That only applies to Class A motorhomes.

So, I have put together the information below for your reference. Please note that there is potential of the regulation change since I posted this. But, this is a good starting point.

This only apply to towed Fifth Wheels Trailers that weigh more than 4,001 pounds bought outside of Texas.

move in day – 今天搬進露營拖車

Posted by JacQ

Today, we move into the RV!

Yes, after buying the rig in Ohio mid December last year, we finally are ready to move in. This morning, we pull the Fifth Wheel from the storage to our street and parked it in front of our house. It will make moving in much easier and more efficient.

We started to realized that our many rounds of downsizing was not enough. More stuff needs to go~

Hopefully we will be able to be moved in and get on the road tonight.
