Scooter problems

Posted by JacQ

I don’t normally think that products made in China are that bad. But we are fed up with this new scooter that we bought.

The Pinnacle 150 Scooter arrived last Thursday and Jeremy put it together based on the very poorly documented assembly instruction from the manufacturer – Boreem Motorsports (BMS).

At first we couldn’t figure out why it won’t start with the key, and then the keyless remote starter did it. It was exciting to at least know that it starts. So we took it around the block to stop by Jason’s and one hour later. The scooter won’t start again, this time from the remote. It was frustrating since we were hoping to start saving money on gas!

We found a scooter repair shop in SA – Torsa Motorcycles. They rewired the scooter so we can start with both key and keyless remote. Money well spent!? No, not that easy. We took it around the block again, this time a little further and then, it died on the way to dinner, in the middle of the road.

Poor Jason had to come pick us up with his truck.

So we are pondering now whether to sell this scooter and get a more reputable European brand scooter.

Lesson learned this time is that buying motor scooter from online store is risky, you don’t get to test drive it and tech support and repair from the store you bought is not good. The online store we bought it from is in Kansas, it will cost us more to take it there to repair than to just buy a new one from a store close by.

Their money back guarantee is also useless since you will have to break the bike down and put it all back into “new and re-sellable” condition, and pay the shipping charge to send it back. All within 7 days.

Oh, well. That is life when you move as fast and spontaneously like we do. ;)

The Fifth Wheel is in the shop for repair

Posted by JacQ

We had a little accident on the way back to Texas…

As we were approaching Texas, there was a little town that we were trying to get the gas tank filled up… Narrow streets, heavy traffic made the task a little harder to handle. We pulled out of the gas station parking lot too tight and scraped the right side of the Fifth Wheel with a telephone pole.

I started calling RV repair places in San Antonio and quickly found out with the holidays, it was almost impossible to get a shop to fix it in time for us to go to Miami in the RV.

As we were approaching Dallas, I started calling a couple of RV repair shops there to see if someone will be willing to take care of it.

Sandi from Metro RV Service, Inc. was the best person I had talked to compared to other shops, so I have decided to take the RV to them. She was not pushy and really sounded like she understood the situation and cared about what she can do to help us.

So we left the RV with her and will be picking it up after a month or so.

I think Jeremy still did a wonderful job getting us that far as a first time driver of a big truck pulling a 35′-long Fifth Wheel. If I was driving, we probably wouldn’t have made it out of Ohio~

Our first camping experience plus dewinterizing the Fifth Wheel

Posted by JacQ

OK. It is time to put our team work to test. We found a nice little private-owned RV campground, Joy-O RV Park, between Memphis and Jackson in Tennessee. Since it is not too cold, and not going below 38 degrees. We decided to use this opportunity to dewinterize the Fifth Wheel. The camp host lady was really nice and we were staying there for the night – only $20.50 ($22.50 after sales tax.) :D Good deal for a nice clean campground with full service.

We followed instructions I found over the internet regarding dewinterizing the water system in the RV. Extremely helpful.

After a few hours of running water through the system and cleaning, our new home is now fully functional. Jeremy took a nice shower and found out that with the size of the water heater, we can only do one shower at a time and have to do it fast! :D

Photos below shows our beautiful new home at the Joy-O RV Park.
