Tessa gathered the gang for a hike today.Even though I taped up, blisters still covered my feet 1.5 miles into the hike. It was painful, but the hike was fun.
Kayaking Lower Salt River from Granite Reef Recreation Area – upstream
This is our first time kayaking in a river. We decided to try out Lower Salt River by launching at the Granite Reef Recreation Area, paddle upstream and then back down. It was pretty hard paddling through some rapids, but it was fun coming back through them.

Since the river’sĀ gage height was only 2.5 ft, I thought it won’t be a huge deal if I rolled, LOL. I did get stuck in a spot where the water level was too low and I was not able to paddle my way out, instead I had to push myself and the kayak out towards the deeper water by hand.
We did not make it too far because of the strong rapids in some areas, but all and all it was a great afternoon of paddling.
I started my GPS a little late, so the starting point across the river from our launch point.
